DC Group initially rehabbed the dilapidated building in the early 1990s when it moved into the space. Now it\u2019s completely redesigning the headquarters, adding 25,000 square feet of office\/warehouse and a new 86 stall parking garage.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur business is growing, so is our team, and now it\u2019s time to grow our space,\u201d said Jon Frank, Founder and CEO of DC Group. \u201cThis will be an intensive project, but DC Group has been here for 29 years. We moved in when the building was in rough shape then made it our home. This project makes sense for our company.\u201d<\/p>\n
DC Group has seen robust growth in recent years. The company has appeared on Inc.’s 500|5000 for six consecutive years. It serves 20 percent of the Fortune 500 and has a 95 percent contract renewal rate. The workforce has grown from 41 employees to 140 employees.<\/p>\n
The Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce recently recognized DC Group with the 2014 Best in Business Award<\/a>. The company also received Inc’s Higher Power Award from Inc. in 2012 for contributions to the economy.<\/p>\n DC Group groundbreaking ceremony, May 29th. But, after working with the city of Minneapolis to secure tax increment financing, receiving support from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) in the form of employment grants, and getting help with environmental clean up from the state, DC Group decided to redevelop its existing building.<\/p>\n \u201cMinneapolis is an innovative city that\u2019s a perfect place for companies like DC Group,\u201d said Minneapolis City Council President Barbara Johnson, who worked with the company to lay out a financing plan.<\/p>\n The expansion plans call for significant aesthetic upgrades to the site and streetscape through a bold curved design, expansive windows, modern wood and metal cladding, and a roof deck. On the inside, the renovated building will include long-term bicycle storage and locker rooms and facilities to encourage use of alternative transit.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re pleased that the company will remain in this community for years to come and will continue to contribute to our growth,\u201d noted Ward 5 Councilman Blong Yang.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n DC Group in the press<\/strong> The company was also highlighted in a feature<\/a> that appeared in Twin Cities Business Magazine May issue. \nOn 5\/29 the Minneapolis Star Tribune featured DC Group\u2019s upcoming expansion project. The article appeared on the front page of the business section (print edition) as well as online<\/a>. CEO Jon Frank attributes the interest to the fact that the expansion represented a substantial win for the area, as well as for City Council members and others who worked hard to keep the business in North Minneapolis. Leadership at DC Group also demonstrated strong commitment to remaining on their home turf, despite bids for consideration from surrounding suburbs. \u201cWe built our first headquarters out of practically nothing \u2014 a condemned building,\u201d Frank said, \u201cas we grow we want to stay true to the principles that have always guided this company. That means making a contribution and innovating solutions that serve everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
