Reporting & Productivity Benefits
Efficient Reporting & Paperwork Accuracy
Many OEMs and third-parties follow an antiquated method of gathering equipment data: writing down the information on paper and transferring it to a computer spreadsheet following the job. Depending on engineers’ work schedules, relaying the information can take an additional 10-15 hours. This duplication of work, with no data base or history of equipment information, consumes 30% of Field Service Engineers’ time and has no procedures in place to verify the accuracy of the information. All of these factors result in delays in providing reports to their customers.
To reduce the amount of time spent on paperwork, eliminate inaccuracy of information and to provide our customers real-time reports, DC Group has spent eight years developing software that standardizes and expedites the data gathering and relaying processes. This software, DC GROUP E-TECH™, is state of the art for the critical power maintenance industry. It is built with checks and balances that automatically detect any abnormal readings, such as unbalanced input or output currents, dirty air filters, batteries and capacitors beyond life expectancy, input or output voltages beyond or below manufactures recommendations, parts needed for next PM, or any other critical test that failed during PM inspections.
All DC Group Field Service Engineers carry laptop computers outfitted with DC Group’s proprietary software and a wireless internet Air Card, allowing internet connectivity from anywhere at anytime. Job information is transmitted to the corporate office before leaving the jobsite, allowing DC Group to provide its customers real-time, fully accurate online service reports and readings.
A DC Group Field Service Engineer spends only two to three hours per week on paperwork by using DC Group proprietary software, compared to the 10-15 weekly work hours put in by service engineers of OEMs and other third-parties devoted to paperwork.
Productivity Benefits
DC Group has developed a number of tools for improving data gathering and for making that information more useful to customers. DC Group E-TECH is the laptop program used by our Field Engineers. Built on a relational database, it automates the gathering of data on customer systems. DC Group E-SERVICE Reports can be viewed and printed from secure connections in customers’ web browsers within forty-eight hours of service. DC GROUP maintains a telephone dispatch center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Customers can contact us at any time with questions or concerns. All calls are answered by qualified Account Managers—degreed professionals with electrical backgrounds who know the business and can immediately dispatch engineers.
DC Group has recently introduced DC GROUP E-REMOTE Remote Monitoring capabilities. Only DC Group can provide remote monitoring services on all makes and models of UPS systems and related power equipment. At the customer's request, our engineers can outfit UPS modules and other equipment with specialized modems, or use SNMP traps, cameras and other monitoring devices. This technology is the highest level of power protection, enabling DC Group to track the status of our customers' critical power equipment from our offsite headquarters and taking the stress of equipment monitoring off of the customers' shoulders. In addition, DC GROUP E-REMOTE eliminates the possibility of equipment alarms going unnoticed at remote or unmanned sites.
